USED YAMAHA / SD055A 14x5.5 Real Wood Snare Drum [08]

This is a snare drum from the SD-055A, commonly known as the Zero Series, which reigned as the upper series of the 9000 Series in the 1970s.

The shell itself is the same 6-ply Hokkaido birch as the 9000 series.
The differences from the 9000 series are the "machined rim" and "parallel action.
The cut rim is a characteristic specification of Yamaha at that time, and it produces a very tight, high-frequency sound with a very solid contour.

The parallel action contributes to a very fine response over the entire surface, and in combination with the machined rim, it gives this model the characteristic sound of a marching snare.

This is an early "A" model, and the color is the synonymous "real wood" color.

The parts other than the head are also kept original (although some washers for the tension bolts have been added).
The condition is really good for a 45 year old snare. There are no malfunctioning parts.
There is some pitting on the parts, but the overall condition is good.
This is an essential model in the history of Yamaha.
