USED Greco / SA550R Cherry Red [3.07 kg / Manufactured in 1977]

This 1977 SA-550 Stop Tailpiece Model features block position markers, a short guard, and distinctive top-hat knobs.

It features a birch archtop body, archtop sides, and archtop back; a maple neck with a volute; a rosewood fingerboard; and edge binding.

This semi-hollow body guitar boasts a dignified look and a sophisticated finish; although it was an entry-level model at the time, it delivers a rich, lustrous sound and remains a highly versatile instrument.

Signs of wear are visible (sun fading; shrinkage, cracks, and partial damage to the binding across nearly the entire body; a chip at the fingerboard end of the neck binding; minor scratches and scuffs; picking marks; buckle marks; and cosmetic damage such as peeling plating, verdigris, tarnish, pitting, and rust on metal parts and screws). When stored in its case, the interior fabric lining adheres to the body.

The instrument was set up upon arrival (cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, octave adjustment, string action adjustment, and fret leveling). The fret tops, which were originally on the low side, have been leveled to a height that remains low but is still suitable for playing. The truss rod can be adjusted in both directions (tightening and loosening) and has been tested to operate within a range of ±60°.
