The body is made of nyato wood, which has excellent midrange and bass characteristics. Despite its solid body, it is surprisingly lightweight and compact. However, the full, warm, woody tone is not lost.

The S-S-S arrangement of the R1 single-coil pickups developed specifically for the "Q". The R1 pickups are designed so that the full range of frequencies can be heard in good balance, making it easy to create a sound with effects pedals and other devices. The low frequency range is tight and muddy, and the high frequency range is bright and clear with a "non-kink" sound that is pleasant to the ear. It also has a low noise level and works well with both digital and analog effects pedals.
