The “TransAcoustic Guitar” was released in 2016 as a new acoustic guitar featuring Yamaha’s proprietary “TransAcoustic” technology, which incorporates digital capabilities while producing sound in the same way as an acoustic instrument.
Its most notable feature is the ability to play with effects using only the guitar itself, without the need for an amplifier or speakers. Vibrations from the strings and other parts are converted into electrical signals, processed with effects, and transmitted to an “actuator” built into the guitar; this causes the guitar body to vibrate, producing the effect sounds.
The natural sound and the effect sound blend together and resonate throughout the entire guitar, producing a natural and pleasant tone. It has been well-received as an acoustic guitar that offers a performance experience unlike any other.

The “TAG3 C” is a second-generation model that further evolves the functionality of conventional TransAcoustic guitars.
The guitar features a dreadnought-style body designed to handle powerful strumming, and is a cutaway model with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides.
By adding a second improved actuator (for a total of two), the guitar delivers higher-quality effects than ever before and introduces a new “Looper” feature.
Three types of effects are available: the traditional “Reverb” and “Chorus,” plus “Delay.” The “Looper” function allows you to record and loop your performance directly on the guitar, enabling you to layer phrases as you play and sparking your creativity. Using the dedicated “TAG Remote” app, you can also adjust the sound quality of the effects.
Furthermore, it now features Bluetooth functionality; by connecting to a smart device, you can play audio directly from the unit. The ‘TAG3 C’ enables the entire music creation process—‘listening,’ ‘playing,’ and ‘creating’—with just a single guitar.
