Based on the previously released dreadnought-shaped FG9, the FS9R is a smaller FS shape with an adirondack spruce top and Indian rosewood sides and back.

Handmade in Japan, the concert-sized FS9R features adirondack spruce on the front and Indian rosewood on the sides and back, and is ideal for singer-songwriters who play delicate arpeggios or fingerpicking with excellent reach, clarity, and comfort.

The front board is made of Adirondack spruce, a rare hard and light wood. By increasing the thickness of the backboard and enhancing its performance as a reflector, the acoustic radiation from the frontboard is strengthened. At the neck-body joint, the neck and body are bolted on in a structure that moderately separates the neck and body, and is designed to concentrate the vibration energy of the strings and body on the body.

The inner label visible through the soundhole is made of Japanese paper, and the position mark is made of kumiki-hoso (a type of Japanese paper). The soundhole and body line are decorated with rope inlays and rope binding reminiscent of traditional Japanese sacred ropes.

The "FS9R" is made of Indian rosewood, which produces deep bass and extended treble. The "FS9M" is made of African mahogany, which enhances the mid-bass and produces a light, crisp sound.
