A vibrant blue 1982 SG-800S has arrived!

The SG, with its Yamaha-original shape, has a large following. This is an SG-800S featuring a set neck, dot position marks, and the Bi-Sound function.
The serial number confirms it was made in 1982. It was released in December 1981 and was manufactured for approximately two years.
The body features a maple top and mahogany back. The neck is set-in, made of mahogany, with a scale length of 628 mm and a measured nut width of approximately 43.5 mm. True to the SG style, the neck is finished relatively thin overall, reflecting the demands of the era. Instead of arrow inlays, it features dot position marks, giving it a clean, masculine look.
The open-coil pickups are original, and the controls consist of two volume and two tone knobs. The tone knobs are push-push style, allowing for individual coil tapping on both pickups—the familiar "Bi-Sound" configuration. The nut has been replaced.

The pickguard shows fine picking scratches overall. The underside of the bridge has dents of varying sizes, including some as small as a grain of rice. There is a paint chip approximately 3 cm in size on the lower right side edge of the body top. Next to the jack, there is a small dent and paint cracking caused by tightening.The body sides have scratch marks and small impact marks. On the lower right of the body back, there is a dent the size of a pea, and the outer perimeter has scattered dents, impact marks, and minor paint peeling.Additionally, there is a paint crack near the tip of the body back cutaway. There is a small touch-up mark on the volute area on the back of the nut, and a scuff mark on the tip of the headstock. There is also a chip in the paint on the upper right corner of the headstock top. The nut has been replaced. The bridge shows minor plating deterioration, but there is no noticeable damage to the other hardware.

The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod can be adjusted both to tighten and loosen. There are no noticeable string marks on the frets, and they have about 40-50% life remaining. The current string height is set to approximately 2.0 mm on the 6th string side at the 12th fret and approximately 1.5 mm on the 1st string side.

Overall, while there is some wear, considering its age, it is in good condition compared to other examples of this model, with no clouding or discoloration. The frets are on the low side, but the guitar has been well-maintained and shows no noticeable buzzing or other issues that would affect playability! Although it features a set-neck construction, the vivid blue finish brings that certain someone to mind! A highly recommended instrument!
