Based on the standard RSP20, the RSP20X features a distinctive look with gold body binding, racing stripes, and a satin gold aluminum pickguard. It’s a striking instrument, combining a sleek body design inspired by café racers with the understated, refined “Rusty Brass Charcoal” finish.
The body, which combines a maple top with a chambered two-piece mahogany back, incorporates chambering based on Yamaha’s proprietary acoustic analysis process, “Acoustic Design.” This achieves a rich resonance and excellent weight balance. Furthermore, the insertion of carbon fiber into both the body and the three-piece mahogany neck enhances rigidity, resulting in a sound that is focused, pleasant, and well-balanced.
The guitar is equipped with two Yamaha-developed VH5 humbuckers. While delivering a high-quality, full-bodied humbucker sound as its foundation, positions 2 and 4 on the 5-position selector switch produce a light, responsive tone reminiscent of the “half-tone” sound from a three-single-coil guitar.
The master tone control is equipped with a push/pull Focus switch. Pulling the switch upward emphasizes the mid-low frequencies, switching to a thick, aggressive tone with increased power. From clean to crunch to heavily distorted rock sounds, it allows for a wide range of tone shaping with simple controls.
Furthermore, Yamaha’s proprietary I.R.A. processing has been applied to impart the appropriate vibration to the finished instrument. By relieving residual stress between the wood, finish, and hardware, it brings out a cohesive tone reminiscent of a well-played guitar.
It shows very little signs of use and remains in beautiful condition.
