This 2001 Gibson Acoustic Custom Shop SJ-200 Custom Built Vine was designed (and supervised) by Ren Ferguson, one of Gibson’s legendary master luthier.
It is a custom-built instrument crafted by skilled artisans at every stage of production and a select group of elite craftsmen, each excelling in their respective fields, and represents an example from the manufacturing period hailed as the “golden age” of the Acoustic Custom Shop.
Furthermore, with only a few dozen units produced, it is recognized worldwide as a collector’s item.

・Body Back & Sides: Solid Eastern Curly Maple (carefully selected, top-grade flame maple)

The Gibson Super Jumbo (SJ) is hailed as the pinnacle and ultimate achievement of Gibson acoustic guitars, often described as the “King of the Flat-Tops.”
In addition to its overwhelming volume and powerful bass, it boasts the clear, brilliant harmonic characteristics that can only be achieved with high-quality maple.
It also stands out for its dynamics, delivering a lifelike sound during strumming and a brilliant sustain rich in nuance during fingerpicking.

Overall Condition
・This instrument is not in completely flawless condition. There are scattered minor scratches and faint dents across the entire body, but there are no major, noticeable defects or damage to the wood.
・The finish shows signs of aging, such as thinning of the lacquer and cracks in the topcoat, but these are in the early stages and appear sporadically.
・The frets showed no significant wear from playing, only minor scuff marks and some dullness due to age; minimal fret filing (shaping and leveling) has improved the playability.
・The original nut has been shimmed and remounted. (Some touch-ups have been made to the surrounding finish.)
・This instrument has reached its 25th year of age. Considering its age, it is in clean and excellent condition.
