Yamaha Electric Bass BB Series Flagship Model "BBP" Gets Minor Model Change!

・Alder/Maple/Alder 3-ply body construction
The new BB series features an alder/maple/alder 3-ply body construction. The hard maple sandwiched between alder sides enriches the midrange and achieves a body resonance that blends seamlessly into the band's sound. Furthermore, using maple for the body allows direct sound transmission with the maple neck, reducing sound loss between body and neck and reliably capturing string vibration.

・Miter Bolting Method
Adopting a miter bolting system that adds two screws securing the neck end at a 45-degree angle from the body back, in addition to the four screws fixing the neck vertically from the body back. This firmly bonds the body and neck, creating a powerful resonance as one unit. Compared to a standard bolt-on joint, it minimizes energy loss from string vibration, delivering rich sustain and overwhelming body resonance.

・Newly Developed Pickups
The new BB series features newly developed pickups tailored to each model. While inheriting the traditional BB sound, they enhance output gain in the mid-to-high frequencies, delivering a clear sound with well-defined contours. Pickups suited to each model's unique character enable players to achieve original and highly versatile expressions.

・Convertible Type Bridge & Saddle
Features a "Strings-Through-Body" construction where strings pass through the body from the back. Compared to the conventional method of passing strings vertically through the back, the 45-degree angle allows string vibration energy to be transmitted to the body with minimal loss.Conventional rear-through methods, where strings pass directly beneath the saddle, suffer significant vibration loss at the plate and saddle areas, making efficient and reliable string vibration transfer difficult. By cutting the bottom of the body at an angle and routing the strings at 45 degrees, string stress at the saddle is reduced.
The BB Pro series features the Vintage Plus Bridge, delivering a sharp and clear sound.The Vintage Plus Bridge's brass saddle delivers deep, rich bass, while the steel plate produces a bright sound. Metal parts like springs and screws are made of stainless steel for enhanced resistance to rust and corrosion. Furthermore, the semi-circular saddle's varying contact points allow for a wide range of expression, from crisp, clear tones to warm, rich sounds.

* A minor model change in 2023 updated the hardware finish from matte to gloss (chrome specification) and added two new color variations: Vintage White (VW) and Moonlight Blue (MLB).
