The Fender USA American Vintage '57 Precision Bass is a vintage reissue model that faithfully reproduces the 1957 specifications. Featuring split-coil pickups, it embodies the sound and construction that can be considered the prototype of the modern Precision Bass.
The balanced tone unique to an alder body is characterized by a thick, stable low end and a punchy midrange, allowing it to make a strong presence even within a band ensemble. With its neutral character and ease of play, it performs exceptionally well across a wide range of genres.
It adheres to vintage specifications down to the finest details, including a one-piece maple neck, a 7.25-inch radius, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Furthermore, the gold anodized pickguard is a major visual feature, giving it a distinctive 1950s-era presence.
With simple controls yet a highly polished sound, this is truly a guitar worthy of being called “the quintessential Precision Bass.”
The finish has a general dullness overall, and there are signs of wear such as scratches, dents, chipped paint, and tarnished or rusted parts.
The tuning machine buttons on the 3rd and 4th strings are slightly loose. However, the guitar is in a condition that poses no issues for current use.
The frets were slightly low, and there was some neck lift, so they have been filed down;
so there are no issues with its current playability.
