USED Art Tech / ST Type, Manufactured in 1985, Red [12]

We’ve received a custom guitar featuring a neck from Art Tech, a completely handmade guitar brand known only to connoisseurs.
Art Tech is a guitar workshop based in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, and other locations, specializing in building and repairing guitars primarily for professional musicians.

The neck on this newly arrived guitar is undoubtedly an Art Tech product, as the headstock bears the signature of the builder, Mr. Sugiura. However, given that the body is a four-piece construction with a slight gap at the neck pocket and the pickup cavity is rectangular (commonly known as a “bento box” cutout), it’s possible that an alder body from another manufacturer was paired with it. Additionally, since the finish covers the traces of a filled-in strap pin hole on the 6th-string horn of the body back, it appears the body has been refinished.

The pickups are made by Fender Custom Shop, though the model number is unknown; the pots are made by CTS.

The soft V-shaped neck features the meticulous finish characteristic of handmade instruments. The oil finish provides a pleasant feel, while the carefully chamfered fingerboard edges and spherically shaped fret edges ensure smooth playability.
There are scattered fine scratches and dents throughout the body, and the hardware shows signs of tarnish.
There are burn marks at the base of the headstock, discoloration on the neck grip due to use, and the position marks on the fingerboard have peeled off.
Although it shows some signs of use, it has been fully serviced and cleaned at our repair center, and playability is excellent.
