For customers residing in Japan
From the dawn of Japanese folk music to the modern music scene, Yamaha has helped shape the history of the acoustic guitar alongside countless musicians.

Carrying on this illustrious tradition, the FS9M concert-style guitar is the pinnacle of a new generation of flagship models, born from an innovative approach. Each instrument is meticulously handcrafted, one by one, by skilled artisans at the Yamaha factory in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Based on the clear development concept of “a guitar for accompaniment that brings out the singer’s voice to the fullest,” it achieves a high-level fusion of cutting-edge scientific acoustic analysis and exceptional craftsmanship. It boasts overwhelming sound quality, combining the expressive power unique to the compact FS concert body—which responds smartly to the subtlest touches of the fingertips—with a powerful, dynamic volume that rivals even dreadnought-style guitars.

In pursuit of the ideal resonance, the wood thickness and structure have been refined without compromise.
The body top, crafted from the highest-grade "Adirondack Solid Spruce"—a first for the regular lineup—features a tapered design that gradually thins toward the outer edges, maximizing the top’s vibrational efficiency.Furthermore, by deliberately designing the "Solid African Mahogany (2-piece construction)" back to be thicker than conventional models, the back panel functions as a powerful reflector. It efficiently and seamlessly projects the exquisite warm resonance and rich sound pressure unique to mahogany forward.

Furthermore, the biggest structural innovation is the adoption of a newly designed “bolt-on neck joint” that moderately decouples the neck from the body. This not only dramatically improves future maintainability but also ensures that all vibrational energy from the strings and neck is transmitted directly to the body without any loss. Combined with our proprietary scalloped X-bracing, this contributes significantly to the instrument’s uniquely clear, unmuddy attack and rich, endless sustain.

It features a 634mm short scale length for easy handling, and every detail has been carefully selected to meet professional standards, including a jet-black ebony fingerboard, a cowbone nut and saddle with rich texture and excellent sound transmission, and high-precision, sleek-looking Gotoh premium tuners (SX510).It boasts a noble, simple yet distinctly Japanese aesthetic, featuring a rope design on the soundhole and binding reminiscent of traditional Japanese shimenawa (sacred ropes), as well as a tortoiseshell-patterned pickguard. Beautifully finished with nitrocellulose lacquer (gloss finish) prioritizing acoustic performance above all else, this is truly a supreme, 100% Japanese-made, handmade instrument worthy of accompanying you for a lifetime.
