Ibanez’s flagship “AZ Series” has established a new-generation standard by pushing the limits of the diverse sounds and playability sought by today’s guitarists. The “AZ-N” is a high-end instrument developed with a primary focus on delivering the “natural, high-quality clean tone” and “fidelity in reproducing subtle picking nuances” that are essential in today’s music scene—including neo-soul, jazz, fusion, and pop.

The body is crafted from alder, which boasts rich midrange and a well-balanced tone. The ergonomically designed, thin back contour and generous elbow contour provide an exceptional grip, whether playing standing or seated. Furthermore, the “Super All Access” neck joint—recessed 8 mm from the back of the body—delivers both exceptional playability in the high frets and rich sustain.
The neck features “S-TECH WOOD” roasted maple, a patented technology that dramatically enhances dimensional stability and weather resistance through nitrogen heat treatment. The easy-to-grip AZ Oval C profile is paired with a rosewood fingerboard—a first for the AZ series—that delivers a warm tone.Features that ensure supreme playability include a compound radius fingerboard (228 mm to 305 mm R) that allows for stress-free playing from low-position chord work to high-fret bends; jumbo stainless steel frets with smooth Prestige fret edge treatment; and Luminlay (phosphorescent) side dots that ensure visibility on dark stages.

The pickups feature the “Fortuna”—developed jointly with Seymour Duncan exclusively for the AZ-N—mounted in an SSH configuration. With a character characterized by moderate output, they faithfully reproduce your picking touch and boast outstanding compatibility with a wide variety of distortion pedals and spatial effects.The “dyna-MIX 9” switching system, which works in conjunction with a mini-switch (Alter Switch), allows you to create a total of nine diverse tone variations—including a simulated humbucker sound achieved through series wiring of two single-coil pickups—with a single touch.

The hardware features a “Gotoh T1702B” tremolo bridge, direct-mounted in a non-recessed configuration. The use of brass saddles and an inertia block, along with a five-point spring system equipped with mute rubber to suppress resonance, delivers a rich, full-bodied resonance.Furthermore, the combination of “Gotoh Magnum Lock w/H.A.P.” tuners—which allow for string-by-string post height optimization—and an oil-impregnated cowbone nut ensures tight tension balance and exceptional tuning stability.
