Ibanez / A527-IPT (Iron Pewter) [03]

Ibanez’s innovative new frontier for cutting-edge modern metal players: the “ALPHA 7-String Multiscale Model”!

Born from the belief that “guitarists can be even freer,” Ibanez’s next-generation “ALPHA” series is a 7-string modern shred guitar that fuses an ergonomic design—pursuing the ultimate in functional beauty—with a multi-scale (fundfret) structure, achieving a high level of balance between a rich low end and crystal-clear separation.

The body is crafted from American basswood, known for its flat, neutral tonal characteristics. In addition to a slim 40mm-thick design meticulously calculated for sound and weight balance, the instrument incorporates intricate ergonomic design elements throughout, such as the “Ergonomic Rear Body Contour,” which allows the fingerboard to naturally come into view and fit snugly against the player’s body when held; the “Ergonomic Elbow Contour,” which eliminates elbow interference; and the “Flat Body Edge,” which stabilizes the classical-style playing position where the guitar is cradled between the legs.Furthermore, the proprietary “3-point bolt joint” using a stainless steel oval plate achieves remarkable access to the high frets while maintaining robust neck rigidity. The rear output jack, which does not interfere with cable routing, is also highly practical.

The neck features a highly rigid 5-piece construction of maple and walnut. While it has an asymmetrical profile that gently curves toward the bass strings, it incorporates the newly developed “Parallel Wizard AS-7” shape, which maintains a uniform thickness of 21 mm along its entire length from the 1st fret to the 12th fret and beyond, dramatically supporting technical fingering techniques such as sweeps and skipping. The hard, fast-responding ebony fingerboard is equipped with jumbo stainless steel frets—which offer superior durability and tonal separation—mother-of-pearl step-offset dot inlays, and glow-in-the-dark side dots that ensure excellent visibility on dark stages. The 27.2/25.5-inch multi-scale design masterfully balances the tight tension of the 7th string (Low-B) with the supple bending performance of the high strings.

The guitar is equipped with “Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker” active pickups (Neck: Alnico / Bridge: Ceramic), which deliver aggressive, deep bass and ultra-low noise. The voicing switch allows you to toggle between a thick, dynamic, high-output tone (Voice 1), a clear, organic clean tone (Voice 2), and a crystal-clear single-coil tone (Voice 3), delivering a versatile range of sounds from heavy modern riffs to crystal-clear tones.

The hardware features a recessed, newly developed “Mono-rail G2” bridge with an independent string structure that prevents interference between strings while directly transmitting vibration. In addition to the rich sustain provided by the brass saddles, it features a groundbreaking mechanism that accommodates both through-body and under-body string routing. The pegs are equipped with Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads, which boast quick string changes and exceptional pitch stability. This is the ultimate 7-string instrument, refined in every detail to pioneer a new chapter in modern extreme music.
