Since the introduction of the Santana model in 2001, the SE series has been loved by guitar players all over the world and has established a firm position in the market share of the same price range, and has now become one of the main lineups of PRS. The SE SILVER SKY, John Mayer's signature model, is a new addition to the SE Series lineup.

The Maryland-made SILVER SKY, which John Mayer spent more than two years perfecting with Paul Reed Smith, is the "ideal model" that John Mayer sought, By combining vintage taste with modern ideas and functionality, it has not only become a worldwide hit, but is already being used by many professional guitarists.

The SE SILVER SKY has already become a big hit on social media and the Internet around the world even before its release in Japan, as the first shipment of the SE SILVER SKY sold out before its release in Japan. ≪Main features

The headstock is based on the PRS's unique shape as in the U.S. model, but with a curved design on the first string side that has more space to prevent the fingers from hitting the headstock in consideration of John Mayer's playing style.

The neck is a 635JM (635 of 63.5 years was used to mean between the two years) specification that is conscious of the shape of vintage guitars made in 1963/1964. It has a rosewood fingerboard, bolt-on neck, 22 frets, 25.5" scale, and PRS's signature Small Birds with downsized bird inlays.

The steel tremolo is a classic design, but is equipped with a knife-edge screw to minimize tuning deviations during arming. The bridge is set up so that it is attached solidly to the body to transmit the string vibration more directly to the body.

The 635JM "S" single-coil pickup, exclusive to SE SILVER SKY, produces a mellow mid-range sound similar to the US model, and produces not only a fat and glossy clean tone, but also a sound with bite and attack when distorted. The fretboard radius has been changed from 7.25" on the US model to 8.5" in pursuit of playability and balance for a wider range of players.

John MayerがPaul Reed Smithと2年以上の月日をかけて完成させたメリーランド製のSILVER SKYは、いわばJohn Mayerが求める“理想のモデル”であり、ヴィンテージテイストを踏襲しつつ、モダンなアイデアと機能性を融合させることで、世界的なヒット商品となっただけだけでなく、既に多くのプロギタリストにも愛用されています。

そして、2021年のアメリカのオンライン楽器販売サイトのReverb.comにおいて、最も売れたUS製ギターとなり、今回発表されたSE SILVER SKYも、本国発売開始前には初回出荷数が全て完売となるほど、日本での発売を前にして既に世界中のソーシャルメディアやインターネット上で大きな話題となっているモデルです。

≪主な特徴≫

・USモデル同様、ヘッドストックはPRS特有の形状を元に、John Mayerのプレイ・スタイルを考慮し、指がヘッドストックに当たらないよう1弦側の形状にゆとりを持たせたカーブ・デザイン、そして、チューニングの安定度をさらに高めるため、独自のペグ配置を採用。

・ネックは1963/1964年製ヴィンテージギターの形状を意識した635JM(両年の間という意味で63.5年の635を使用)仕様。ローズウッド指板、ボルトオンネック、22フレット、25.5インチスケール、そして PRSの特徴であるバード・インレイをサイズダウンしたSmall Birdsを採用。

・スティール製トレモロはクラシックなデザインを踏襲しつつも、ナイフエッジ・スクリューを装備することでアーミング時のチューニングの狂いを最小限に抑制。また、John Mayerのこだわりにより、弦振動がよりダイレクトにボディに伝わるよう、ブリッジはボディにベタ付けになるようにセッティングして出荷。

・SE SILVER SKY専用635JM“S”シングルコイル・ピックアップは、USモデル同様、芳醇なミドルレンジをもったサウンドを生み出し、太く艶のあるクリーントーンだけでなく、歪ませた時にはバイト感とアタック感のあるサウンドが特徴。

・より幅広いプレイヤー層への弾きやすさとバランスを追求した結果、フレットボードラディアスはUSモデルの7.25“から8.5”へと変更。
