During the period when Hawaiian music became popular in the U.S., many brands of ukuleles and steel guitars were introduced. Supro was a low-priced brand from National, which started out as a manufacturer of resonator guitars, one of the pre-electric steel guitars. Like National's later electrified steel guitars, Spro steel guitars were manufactured in Valco.
This twin was introduced in 1948, a 23" scale 6-string double-neck lap steel. 1955 saw a specification change and the name change to console. This particular model was made in 1950.
It features string-through pickups, popular with blues slide guitarists. The pearloid-covered body and geometric position marks give it a retro atmosphere that symbolizes the era. There are some scratches, stains, and metal rusting, but considering the age of the instrument, it has maintained a relatively clean appearance.
The shaft of the peg on the fourth string of the neck on the front side is bent, but it does not interfere with practical use. The peg knobs have been replaced with new ones. The body was originally fixed with a shield cable, but it has been modified to use a standard shield cable, and a phone jack has been installed. The switches and pots also seem to have been replaced. Also, there is a cavity under the control plate that has had a counterbore added to it.
The case that comes with the instrument may be original, but we are not certain. The original latch that slides the button is broken and does not work, so another latch is used to stop the lid.
Surprisingly few steel guitars have a double neck and no leg attached. The price is as reasonable as single neck guitars. If you are looking for one, don't miss it.

ハワイアン・ミュージックがアメリカで人気を博した時代、数多くのブランドからウクレレやスティール・ギターが発売されました。スプロは、電気化される以前のスティール・ギターのひとつであるリゾネーター・ギターのメーカーとしてスタートしたナショナルの廉価商品のブランドでした。後年のナショナルの電気化されたスティール・ギター同様スプロのスティール・ギターもヴァルコで製造されました。
このツインは1948年に発売が開始されました。23インチ・スケールの6弦ダブル・ネックのラップ・スティールです。1955年に仕様変更とともにコンソールに名称も変更となりました。当個体は1950年製。
ブルース系スライド・ギタリストにも人気の高いストリング・スルーのピックアップをフィーチャー。パーロイドに覆われたボディ、幾何学的なポジション・マークが、時代を象徴するレトロな雰囲気を漂わせています。多少の傷、汚れ、金属の錆の発生がありますが、年式を考慮すれば比較的綺麗な外観を維持していると言えるでしょう。
手前側のネックの4弦のペグの軸が曲がっていますが実用に支障ないレベルです。ペグのノブが新しい物に交換されています。また当個体は元々ボディにシールド・ケーブルが固定されていたと思われますが、一般的なシールド・ケーブルが使えるよう改造がなされ、フォーン・ジャックが取り付けられています。スイッチやポットも交換されているようです。またコントロール・プレート下のキャビティにはザグリの追加が確認できます。
付属のケースは純正の可能性がありますが、定かではありません。ボタンをスライドさせるオリジナルのラッチが壊れて機能しないため、別のラッチで蓋を止めるようにしてあります。
ダブル・ネックでレグが付かないタイプのスティール・ギターは意外と少ないです。しかもお値段はシングル・ネック並にリーズナブルとなっております。お探しの方はお見逃しなく。

The items name with "USED" are used items, and comes as shown in the pictures so there may be marks of use. All items were tested by our store staff and we test each item one more time before shipping them out to make sure they are fully functional.
