MSA, along with Sho-Bud and Emmons, were three of the most popular brands of pedal steel. All of them have been revived in recent years, but this MSA is a product of yesteryear. The year is unknown. It is probably from the 1970s or 1980s. The body is finished in high-grade rosewood mica.
Originally, it was a 10-string double-neck model with 8 pedals, but both necks were missing some pedal and changer parts, so neither neck could be played as a pedal steel when it arrived at our store. The C6th side can be used as a non-pedal steel guitar.

The pickups appear to have been replaced. There are some scratches on the metal parts and some rust on the legs and pedal rod caps. The body surfaces, except for the metal parts, are relatively clean with few scratches. The case is missing the cushion on the inside of the lid and has some scratches and stains. This is a junk item that is not fully operational.
The pedals and knee levers are stable with no play, as MSA is known for its excellent construction. It is heavy, but the sound is solid. The sound has a core and the sustain is perfect. The specs are sufficient for an introduction to pedal steel E9th tuning. If you plan to play a C6th neck in open tuning, as Al Perkins did at one time, this is the perfect instrument for you. Best of all, it's a steal for a pro model of yesteryear.

Sho-Bud、Emmonsと並んで人気を博したMSA。この3ブランドはペダル・スティールの御三家的存在でした。いずれも近年復活を遂げていますが、こちらのMSAは往年の製品。年式は不明です。おそらく1970年代から1980年代の物ではないでしょうか。ボディは高級感漂うローズウッド調のマイカ仕上げです。
本来8ペダルの10弦ダブル・ネック・モデルですが、両ネックともペダルやチェンジャーの部品が幾つか欠損していたため、当店入荷時はどちらのネックもペダル・スティールとして演奏が出来ない状態でした。そこで専門家に依頼し、残った部品を工夫して組み合わせE9th側のネックはペダル・スティールとして演奏可能な状態にしてもらいました。4ペダル、2レバーとなっております。C6th側はノン・ペダルのスティール・ギターとしてお使いいただけます。

ピックアップは交換されているようです。各金属部にはくすみ、汚れが散見でき、レグやペダル・ロッドのキャップ部などには赤錆が発生しておりますが、クリーニング、調整をおこなっており、各部の動作はスムーズです。金属部以外のボディの表面は傷は少なく比較的綺麗な状態を保っています。純正のプラスティックのモールド・ハード・ケースが付属しますが、蓋の内側のクッションが欠損しており、傷や汚れもございます。完全動作をしないジャンク商品です。
建付けの良さに定評があるMSAだけあって、ペダルやニー・レバーに遊びはなく安定感があります。重量はありますが、その分音もしっかりしております。音に芯があり、サスティンも申し分ございません。ペダル・スティールのE9thチューニングの入門機として十分なスペックです。また一時期のアル・パーキンスのようにC6thのネックをオープン・チューニングで演奏するつもりであれば、まさにうってつけの商品です。何よりも往年のプロ・モデルとしては破格です。

The items name with "USED" are used items, and comes as shown in the pictures so there may be marks of use. All items were tested by our store staff and we test each item one more time before shipping them out to make sure they are fully functional.
