Great sounding '81 D-18!

The D-18 is known for its sweet, clean mahogany sound and has been used by Doc Watson, Paul Simon, Bernie Redon, Takahiko Ishikawa, and many others. This particular guitar was made in 1981 with Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and square rod.
The overall paint film is cloudy and there are some weather checks. There are some dents and scratches, but the pickguard is original, and there are no cracks or Martin cracks. The bottom of the sides have some paint discoloration and darkening due to contact with the rubber of the guitar stand. The pegs have been replaced.
In the case of square rod Martin products, it is the condition of the neck that is of concern, but this unit is in proper condition. The current string height at the 12th fret is approximately 2.6mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side, which is perfect for playability. The saddle has been adjusted a little lower, but the bridge has not been shaved.
The frets have been replaced and there are no noticeable wear areas. There is more than 90% height remaining.
It plays well. The bridge plate is made of large rosewood, which gives the guitar a wild feel. Although it is in player's condition, you can enjoy the dry and clear sound of mahogany side and back if you play gently.
