Alleva-Coppolo is a high-end brand from New York, the home of musical instruments.
The brand is one of the perfected JB type, pursuing vintage-like and ultimate practicality by selecting materials that are 30 to 40 years old, with a focus on "good materials. The price of the JB type is rising rapidly in recent years, and it is a maker of great attention in the industry.

This time we have just received the "LG5" series, which is a representative model of Coppolo. It is a standard model produced in the 60s specification that boasts of its popularity. It is no exaggeration to say that the impressive and functional five paddle pegs are synonymous with Koppolo.
Alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard are standard materials. There is no doubt that carefully selected woods are used for all of them. However, since no spec sheet is included, we were unable to determine the details of the fretboard and neck materials that are available.

The neck joint is marked "BUILT FOR SLEEK ELITE," "By Jimmy," "October 2019ed," "SURF GREEN HEADSTOCK," "PROFILE URETHANE," and "GOLD DECAL ROGO," indicating that it was manufactured for the domestic distributor We can read that it was manufactured for Three Quarries, that it was made by Jimmy Coppolo, that it was made in October 2019, and that it is polyurethane coated in the Surf Green color.
Coppolo's most distinctive feature is the endlessly extending Low B. I played one note and couldn't help but marvel at it. The clear sustain without a single muddy note is a true work of art. At the beginning of this article, I mentioned that this is "one of the perfection of JB type", but there is no doubt that this is also "one of the perfection of 5-string bass".
Of course, the quality of the other strings is also tremendous. The passive sound is a bit different from the so-called "New York sound," but it has a vintage Fender-like sound and an active EQ that allows you to enjoy a natural but real change in character.

Scratches all over the body, dents and buckle marks on the back side. There are some paint chips on the bottom of the body and the tip of the head.
However, the truss rod is in good working order, and the neck is almost straight with about 70-80% frets remaining, so there are no problems with playability.

This is one of the finest electric basses ever made.
