USED MORRIS / S-131R [03]

We have received a used MORRIS / S-131R.

This is a Japanese-made, handcrafted model produced as a top-of-the-line model in the Morris S Series. The label bears the inscription “YOKOYAMA,” and it is believed to be an instrument crafted by Master Luthier Tadashi Yokoyama during his tenure at Morris. Although the exact year of manufacture could not be determined, it is believed to have been made prior to 2006.

Its all-solid construction, crafted from carefully selected woods, combines a delicate response with rich overtones, making it suitable for a wide range of playing styles, from fingerstyle to strumming. It also features a built-in preamp, making it a highly practical instrument for both live performances and recording.

Regarding its condition, there are dents, scratches, and tarnish on the metal parts, and it shows signs of aging and wear commensurate with its age. The top has a history of crack repair. Additionally, since peeling of the back bracing was observed, we have performed adhesive repairs at our in-house repair center.

The neck has a very slight forward bow. It has been straightened with an iron and adjusted at our repair center, so there are currently no major issues affecting playability. String action at the 12th fret measures 2.6 mm on the 6th string and 2.1 mm on the 1st string. The truss rod has approximately 40 degrees of play in the tightening direction. The frets show no significant wear or unevenness and retain about 70% of their original height, maintaining sufficient height for playing.

The electronics are functioning properly, and there are no issues with the output.

A buzzing sound is heard near the saddle when tuning the 4th and 3rd strings. Although the repair center inspected and adjusted this, the issue has not been resolved, and the instrument will be delivered as is.

The original hard case is included.
