USED Sadowsky / TYO Modern Edge 4-String J-Bass, Distressed Candy Apple Orange [03]

We’ve just received a used model from the “Sadowsky TYO”—a custom-order line by the Japanese manufacturer Sadowsky—featuring a rare aged finish!

The Sadowsky story began in 1979 when Roger Sadowsky, who had been working as a repair technician in Philadelphia, struck out on his own.
Within this brand, the Sadowsky TYO series was once manufactured in Japan under the meticulous supervision of Mr. Kikuchi, the chief luthier.

This particular model we’ve just received is an extremely rare collaboration between Sadowsky TYO and Rittenhouse Guitars, which shares the same Japanese distributor.
While the Sadowsky TYO typically does not feature a lacquer finish, this model was made possible through a collaboration with Rittenhouse Guitars, which specializes in finishes that closely resemble vintage instruments.

This model features the “Modern Edge” Dinky shape. It features an alder body and a morado fingerboard, with specifications that closely follow the brand’s classic “RV” model.
The body and headstock are finished in “Distressed Candy Apple Orange,” featuring the “Closet Classic” finish that recreates the details of a guitar that has been stored in a hard case for a long time right from the moment it was new.

As for the sound—the most crucial aspect—it delivers tight, well-defined bass combined with clear, sparkling highs, giving it that signature Sadowsky crispness.
This is an exceptionally versatile instrument that is sure to shine in a wide range of musical contexts.
Infused with the spirit of true vintage by Rittenhouse Guitars, this bass has excellent natural resonance, just like an instrument that’s been cherished for years, and you’ll likely find yourself thinking, “I could play this forever.”

The neck and frets are in excellent condition and are still fully playable.
As mentioned earlier, because this model has undergone a light aging treatment, it can be difficult to discern, but judging by its overall condition, there do not appear to be any scratches or marks resulting from use.
