A 2012 Fender Custom Shop MBS 1964 Stratocaster Closet Classic Black by John Cruz has arrived!!

This guitar was crafted by John Cruz, a former Senior Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop who remains highly popular to this day.

It features an alder body, a maple neck, and a laminated maple fingerboard.
The neck features a C-shaped profile that’s slightly thicker than those typical of the early ’60s, and the fingerboard radius is 9.5.

It features slightly larger frets, which, combined with the 9.5R fingerboard radius, provide excellent playability.

It recreates the rare specifications of the era, such as the maple-capped neck found on ’64 Stratocasters, and the combination of the Green Guard and maple fingerboard gives it a distinctive look.

It is equipped with single-coil pickups featuring black bobbins.
It delivers a bright, clear tone with powerful punch, and maintains a solid core even when played through distortion.

The bridge pickup is also equipped with a tone control, making it easy to use.

Although it originally had a “Closet Classic” finish, there are visible scratches, dents, buckle marks, peeling paint, and discoloration on the parts—all of which appear to have been added later.
While it shows signs of use, it is in good playing condition and gives the impression that it has gained character through use.

This is a guitar with unique specifications crafted by John Cruz, whose popularity remains undiminished to this day.
