The Stratocaster, which has been in production since 1954, has been beloved by many players for many years.

The model we’ve just received is a 1972 Stratocaster featuring specifications different from those of the ’50s and ’60s, such as a large headstock, a bullet nut that allows for truss rod adjustment from the headstock, and a three-point neck joint.

This guitar is from the final production run featuring a single-string guide and retains some of the reddish hue typical of sunburst finishes.

The body is made of alder; dated “22 JUN 72B,” it features a 1972 maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard, and weighs approximately 3.52 kg, giving it a well-balanced feel.

It is equipped with three pickups featuring staggered pole pieces and gray bobbins.
All hardware is original 1972 5302.

It pairs well with driven tones, producing a trebly, cutting rock sound.
It also pairs exceptionally well with clean tones, such as for cutting.

The pots are: Volume 137-xxxx, Tone 1 137-7210, and Tone 2 137-7210; we have confirmed that two of them are original 1972 parts.

There are signs that the configuration was once modified to allow the tone control to affect the rear pickup, as well as evidence of solder repairs.

The neck shows signs of overspray, and the body has been touched up in several places.

Overall, there are signs of wear—such as scratches, dents, peeling paint, and weather checking—but the guitar retains a look that’s quintessentially vintage.

This Stratocaster features excellent pedal compatibility and a sparkling sound, embodying the unique charm of that era.
