Gibson Custom Shop Historic Select 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue Vintage Gloss BOTB Cover Burst -2015- is now in stock used.

This is a dealer-ordered and wood-selected Historic Select model based on the True Historic model that was introduced in 2015, but was discontinued the following year in 2016 when True Historic models became available for order.

This is a short-lived Historic Select R9.

The body is made of curly flame maple top and mahogany back, selected by a Japanese dealer, with a solid mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. The neck/fingerboard, body top/back, and neck joint are glued with glue (hide glue), and the tubeless truss rod and long studs are inherited to achieve vintage-like specs and sound.
The True has been introduced and the previous specs have been realized.

The True's appearance marks a significant change from the previous specs, but it is worth noting the carving and thickness of the body, and the matching rolled mahogany binding on the neck/body.

Hardware is nickel, with Kluson Gibson Deluxe Single Line/Single Ring tuners, aluminum stop bar, ABR-1 bridge, and true historic parts.

Two "Custombucker" pickups, which were introduced around 2013 and have been potted, are mounted, and Bumblebee replicas are used for the condensers. The brazing gives it a slightly comped feel, but it is resistant to feedback and noise, and has a very easy-to-handle vintage sound that can only be experienced at this time. (Custom backers are still sold by themselves, but they are not potted.)

The color is BOTB Cover Burst, a reproduction of the color on the cover of "Beauty Of The Burst," a book that researched the construction and history of the Burst Les Paul, and the neck and body back are aniline-dyed. The binding shows some erosion and fading of the aniline die.

The condition of the instrument as a whole has many scratches and dents, but the remaining frets are about 70% and the truss rod is confirmed to turn 60 degrees both tightened and loosened.
