2022 Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1968 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS 60s Gold

The Les Paul Standard was introduced in 1952 as the signature model of guitarist Les Paul. In 1958, it was given a sunburst finish instead of the gold top finish that had previously graced Gibson's Golden Era, but the single-cut Les Paul-type body was replaced by an SG-style body in 1961, perhaps because it did not meet market demand. The single-cut Les Paul type body was replaced by the SG style body in 1961, and the Les Paul disappeared from the lineup.
The demand for Les Pauls increased as musicians of the time used them, and in 1968, Les Pauls were re-produced, but the specs were similar to the gold tops of the mid-1950s, rather than the popular bursts.

Gibson Custom Shop has succeeded in reproducing the model bearing the extremely rare and collectible crown inlay that was seen on the initial production lot in 1968. It is regrettable that it is already out of production.

The body is 2-piece maple top/1-piece mahogany back, and the neck is 1-piece solid mahogany with rosewood fingerboard. A large binding is wrapped around the cutaway that hides the maple top, and glued with glue (hide glue). Long tenon (Deep Joint) set neck.

The head angle is a slightly shallow 14 degrees with an angled Kluson Double Line/Double Ring "Gibson Deluxe" knob.
The neck shape is a slightly smaller "Authentic '68 Medium C-Shape" with "Medium-Jumbo" frets.
The bridge is a wired "ABR-1" with a nylon saddle, and the control knobs are gold hat knobs with metal tops. Missing metal top on front tone.

Two "Custom Soapbar P90" pickups are installed, which have a rich and expressive core, and the vintage curve CTS pots, Luxe Black Beauty Capacitors, and other electronic parts have been thoroughly reproduced in vintage style.

The frets have not worn down and the truss rod turns 90 degrees both tightened and loosened without any problems.
The 68 Les Paul Standard is no longer in production, so if you are looking for one, this is a great opportunity!

Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1968 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS 60s Gold
