In the late 1960s, only a very small number of Gibson J-45s were produced in Ebony Black and Cherry Red as custom colors. The large pickguard that was typical in the 50's was changed to a thicker pickguard in the mid-60's, and the famous Gibson logo was also put on the pickguard. The famous Gibson logo was also put on the pickguard. This instrument has the white large pickguard with the Gibson logo. The upper belly bridge and adjustable wood saddles give off a lively and well-balanced light sound with a good sense of crispness, and the narrow neck with a nut width of about 40mm makes it possible to enjoy playing with chord strokes to the fullest. The coloring is also very nice.
The coloring of the instrument has been kept in good condition so that you can enjoy the cherry red color of the time, although it usually turns brown with age due to color tanning. The playing condition has been well maintained, with the pegs replaced, the bridge re-glued, and the neck reset, and the truss rod can be adjusted. There is a crack on the 6th string side near the bridge and the 6th string side near the binding (near the neck), but it does not reach the wood and is a paint crack, so there is no problem since it is a bracing area. It is not a problem since it is a bracing point.
There is also some paint peeling on the shoulder of the 6th string side that exposes the wood (probably due to paint burn), and there are signs that it has been touched up to prevent the peeling from spreading.
Many vintage J-45s of the late 60's coloring have had many parts replaced due to color tanning and aging, and wood restoration, etc. However, this instrument is in very good condition, so it can be played further to improve the sound and look by yourself. It is a very rare instrument and its price is rising.
