A 1998 Gibson Custom Shop / ES-5 Natural has arrived!!

Serial No.: 91978011; this is a 1998 model.

Known for its striking appearance, the ES-5 debuted in 1949 with a large 17-inch body and three P-90 pickups, featuring a four-control setup consisting of individual volume controls for each pickup and a master tone control. In 1955, the control layout was updated to a six-knob configuration: a four-position selector switch, plus a volume and tone knob for each pickup.

The model we’ve just received is an ES-5 Natural from the 4-control era, equipped with P-90 pickups.

Maple is used for the top, sides, back, and neck, while the fingerboard is made of rosewood. As the ES-5 was originally crafted as a top-of-the-line model, its beautiful flame figure adds even more character to the instrument.

The block inlays and multi-layer binding give it a premium look and feel. With the resonant body of this large guitar, you’re sure to experience a rich, sweet, and superb sound.

The control layout is simple, featuring three volume controls and one master tone control.

As for its condition, while there are some paint cracks typical for its age, as well as some general signs of wear such as dents and scratches, it is in relatively good condition overall. Of course, playability is excellent, including the truss rod.
