The "Murphy Aged" model, which features exceptionally intricate aging work even within the True Historic line. We’ve just received a used True Historic 1957 Les Paul Gold Top Murphy Aged - Vintage Antique Gold!

The True Historic series is extremely rare today. This is a top-quality reissue model crafted by the Custom Shop around 2015–2016 to faithfully reproduce the original Les Paul as closely as possible.

Weighing in at 3.87 kg, it’s on the lighter side with excellent balance; the natural resonance is superbly transmitted, producing a bright tone.

Tom Murphy personally oversaw the aging process, resulting in superb craftsmanship down to the finest details, including paint chipping and weather checking. Furthermore, the gold finish—dubbed "Vintage Antique Gold"—shifts in hue depending on the viewing angle, creating a Gold Top that comes as close as possible to the original color of the era.

By combining double-step CNC rough carving with hand-finished sanding, we have successfully recreated the elegant body curves and neck shape characteristic of the 1950s.

The hide glue lamination process, introduced in 2013, is also applied to the body. Regarding the finish, we have re-examined every step of the process—including hand-spraying techniques, dry sanding, and wet sanding—to achieve an authentic finish. This enhances the body’s natural resonance and results in a finish with heightened transparency.

By adding hand-shaping steps to various parts—such as the rolled binding process that rounds off the sharp edges of the neck binding—the edges of areas like the headstock perimeter have been given an even more authentic feel. Combined with the use of True Historic parts, into which Gibson Custom invested a massive budget to recreate authentic textures, this guitar represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship.

Regarding its condition, since it has been aged, it is difficult to assess for scratches, but it shows minimal signs of use and is in excellent condition. Of course, playability is also excellent.

A 1957 Gold Top, produced in limited numbers at the time. This particular model is the hard-to-find "Murphy Aged" version.
