USED Fender / 1966 Mustang Red B-Neck [05]

A 1966 Fender Mustang has arrived.

The Fender Mustang, a student model introduced in 1965.
It features a short-scale, 22-fret design and is equipped with the most wide-ranging dynamic vibrato in Fender’s history.
Instead of a selector switch, it uses individual ON/OFF switches for each pickup.
It also features a phase-out function, delivering a wide variety of sound variations.

The neck date is 16JUN66B, indicating a B-neck built in June 1966.
A fiberglass shim is inserted into the neck pocket of the body, which is also consistent with the specifications used by Fender at the time.
The headstock decal is of the PAT.2,741,146 2,817,261~ specification used from early to mid-1966.
The neck date matches the period when this decal was used, confirming that it is original.

Only the front pickup has been replaced; a black-bobbin type is now mounted.
Since there are no visible markings indicating the date or model name, further details are unknown.
The rear pickup is original and is dated 8/19/66.

As for the other electronics, the volume pot is soldered, so the date cannot be verified, but it is likely original; the tone pot is original and manufactured in 1966; the capacitor is also original (Orange Circle D); both pickup switches are original; and the jack is also believed to be original based on the color of the solder.

The included hard case is from a different era; it is a black Torex model, which came into use primarily around 1976, and the handle is missing.
