A 1972 Fender Mustang Competition Red Mod has arrived!!

This 1972 model features serial number 348429, pot date 304-7205, and neck date 16JAN72B.

The Fender Mustang Competition is a special edition model of the Mustang that debuted in the late 1960s. With its retro, pop-inspired look and unique specifications, it remains a highly popular series to this day. This particular guitar is red.

Neck Date: 16JAN72B (quite faint); neck thickness is approximately 23.0 mm at the 1st fret and approximately 25.4 mm at the 12th fret.

The body is the original red. Both the front and rear pickups have been replaced. The control system has also been replaced and modified; the standard rear pickup ON/OFF switch now toggles between the front, middle, and rear pickups. The wiring is configured so that the front pickup is activated by its own ON/OFF switch.

Replaced parts include the nut, frets, saddle, some springs, an added capacitor, additional wiring, and wiring modifications.

As for its condition, it shows signs of use—such as scratches and dents—appropriate for its age, but playability is excellent. This is a guitar geared more toward players than as a vintage collectible.
