This Rickenbacker bass, which steadfastly upholds tradition and remains strictly handmade, is in short supply as production cannot keep up with demand. The 1960s-style position marks, which extend all the way to the sides of the fingerboard, have been revived, giving the instrument a more refined look.

Furthermore, the adoption of a double-action truss rod (single rod) improves maintainability.
Along with this specification change, the neck profile has been redesigned to be thinner. Combined with the V2 Bridge—which allows for more precise octave adjustment than the old-style bridge and control over the pitch between any two strings—it has evolved into a versatile model capable of handling technical playing. While preserving traditional style and sound, the brand has made repeated subtle updates, demonstrating a strong commitment to sound, playability, and control.

With a single action—pulling up the tone knob—you can switch from the 4003’s high-output, powerful bass sound to the sweet, vintage sound of the 4001 style, enabling a wide range of sounds from the Beatles’ sound to punk, prog, and hard rock.

Of course, the classic Rickenbacker sound remains intact, thanks to the combination of high-density maple from sections with excellent acoustic properties and the through-body construction that runs the length of the body. This makes it a truly one-of-a-kind instrument capable of meeting a wide range of needs.

The 2025 model features a specification change: the traditional bridge pickup cover has been removed. This creates a clean playing area with a built-in thumb rest that doesn’t interfere with your playing.
