A 1956 Gibson ES-350 Sunburst has arrived!!

The ES-350T, introduced in 1955 alongside the Birdland, is one of Gibson’s early Thinline-body guitars. It was a favorite of Chuck Berry, the originator of rock ’n’ roll, early in his career, and it’s still fresh in our memories that Jimmy Page used it during Led Zeppelin’s reunion for “In My Time of Dying.”

Like the Birdland, the ES-350T features a 17-inch single-cutaway hollow body, a short 23.5-inch scale neck, and a compact neck with a nut width of 1-5/8 inches.

This instrument has the serial number A24331 and was manufactured in 1956.

The visible “Pot Date” is 134620, indicating a 1956 model; since there are no irregularities in the solder or other parts, all pots are likely original. It is equipped with the original “Bumblebee” capacitors. The controls exhibit slight crackling, but since they are original, we have left them as is. The pickups are also original P90s.

As for its condition, it’s not in the best shape.

The neck has been reset once and is currently glued back in place, but there is still a gap. Additionally, the fretboard is tilted toward the body from the 15th fret onward, resulting in high string action in that area. This is partly due to a previous bridge replacement; currently, the string action at the 12th fret is 3.5 mm on the 6th string side and 3.0 mm on the 1st string side. * It cannot be lowered any further.

However, the string height in the lower positions can be set lower, so I believe it should be playable without too much discomfort.

There are two holes in the body beneath the bridge, likely where something was once secured. Additionally, the jack area shows signs of wood grafting, presumably to repair a crack.

The neck has some missing binding and touch-up work. The strap pin is driven diagonally into the joint.

Replaced parts include the nut, frets, bridge, and one strap pin. Additionally, the end cap that secures the PG is missing.

As the overall condition is somewhat poor, we cannot offer a warranty; however, the instrument is playable. We hope you’ll consider this opportunity.
