A Rare Find!! A '58 Les Paul in Antique Pelham Blue has arrived.
Launched in 2021, the Murphy Lab Collection is led by Tom Murphy, a leading expert in aging and a Master Artisan at Gibson Custom.This series has garnered acclaim for recreating the look and feel of vintage guitars by combining newly developed lacquer processing technology with hand-finished aging techniques. This particular instrument is a 1958 Les Paul model—typically finished in Sunburst—finished in an exquisite Antique Pelham Blue color that blends subdued tones with vibrant hues, and features the aforementioned “Heavy Aged” treatment by Murphy Lab.The neck features a V2 profile, which is slimmer and easier to grip than the standard 58 model’s 50s Rounded Medium C profile. It is equipped with unpottered Custombuckers. Since the finish is already aged, it is difficult to distinguish between new and existing scratches; however, there are areas where the paint has peeled slightly due to age. It functions perfectly, has ample fret life remaining, and is in excellent playing condition.
