USED Gretsch / 6119 Chet Atkins Tennessean 1966 [06]

We are pleased to announce the arrival of a 1966 Gretsch / 6119 Chet Atkins Tennessean.

The 6119, which was born in 1958, was originally a 1PU with F-holes, but in 1961 it became a 2PU with simulated F-holes, and later the body thickness was changed and white trim was added to the simulated F-holes. The model name on the head of this new shipment is "Tenesian".
This time we have a '66 model with a plate with the model name engraved on the head.

The maple hollow construction body has the similated F-holes as mentioned above, and the center laminated maple neck is reinforced with a single screw from the back of the joint, which is unique to this vintage model. The rosewood fingerboard has the characteristic thumbnail inlay position markings, and is 0-fret spec. The body has faded to a walnut-like brown color, giving it a stately look.

It is equipped with two original Hi-Lo Tron pickups and has a master volume, volume for each PU, PU selector, preset tone control, and mute switch.
On the hardware side, it has a Bigsby B6 tailpiece with Gretsch engraving. The bar bridge pedestal is of course not fixed, but the bridge is designed to tilt back and forth as you arm it, which shows the ingenuity of this American-style construction. The pegs are the original open gear type made by Van Gent in Holland.

As for the condition, the binding is deteriorated and cracked, which is typical of vintage Gretsch, and the binding has been peeled off in several places. There are no parts that would significantly interfere with playing.
In addition, all frets except for the 0th fret have been refretted and the fingerboard surface has been modified, and the edges of the neck binding have been shaved and rounded to make it easier to grip, especially on the 6th string side. The frets have been replaced with vintage type thin frets and have been worn out so that the low frets, especially on the 1st~3rd string side, are low, but still playable.
The paint has been thinly over-lacquered, and there are no bumps that would bother you while playing.
As for replacement parts, one truss rod cover screw, one neck-side pickguard screw, one front escutcheon screw that is hidden by the pickguard, and two toggle switch caps have been replaced.
In addition, there are cracks on the head veneer and buckle marks on the body back, and overall there are scratches, dents, and dull metal parts due to age and use.
The original hard case is included, but due to age-related damage, it is difficult to carry as a case, so a gig bag will be attached separately.

Although some parts have been replaced, the PU and other important parts remain original, and the crisp vintage Tennesian tone is still present. Please consider this one as it can still be used.
