USED YAMAHA / LA-90 Custom [circa 1988]

This is the “LA-90 Custom Limited Model,” a high-end model from the LA Series (Luxury Artist Model) dating from around 1988.

This “LA-90 Custom” features the handwritten signature of renowned luthier Michio Seki on the inner label.It features a solid spruce top, palisander (Indian rosewood) sides and back, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and maple binding around the perimeter. It is equipped with two stereo modes (odd strings to R, even strings to L; or strings 1–3 to L, strings 4–6 to R) and a retrofitted Yamaha original built-in tuner.

It boasts an excellent fit and finish, superb playability, and a sound that still holds up today.

Strap pins were added later. There are signs of wear (color fading, partial peeling of headstock decoration, fine weather cracks, dents in various places around the body, small scratches and scuffs, scuffs from playing, picking marks, buckle marks, ring marks and dents on the back of the neck, discoloration, tarnish, pitting, and rust on metal parts and screws, and other cosmetic damage).

Set up upon arrival (cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, fret leveling, and battery snap repair). The frets are at a height that poses no issues for playing. The truss rod has snapped due to being completely loose, but the current string action is in good condition for playing.
