The body is made of nyato wood, which has excellent midrange and bass characteristics. Despite its solid body, it is surprisingly lightweight and compact. However, the full, warm, woody tone is not lost.

The R1 single-coil pickups developed for the "Q" are arranged in a S-S-S layout. The R1 pickups are designed to sound well-balanced across the full range of frequencies, making it easy to create sounds with effects pedals and other devices. The low frequency range is tight and muddy, and the high frequency range is bright and clear with a "non-kink" sound that is pleasant to the ear. It also has a low noise level and works well with both digital and analog effects pedals.
