The lacquer on the fingerboard is not so worn and does not give the impression of having been used.

Description
This is a French Selmer Mark 7, manufactured around 1980, which was a model change from the Mark 6, which was manufactured for about 20 years, with larger key parts, and a review of the tube thickness and tube design. The jazz scene at that time also had a background of the time when electric instruments began to spread from acoustic compositions, and the Mark 7 is a masterpiece that supported the music scene of fusion, rock, and crossover.
Overall, there are some scratches and rusting. The lacquer remains in good condition. There is a solder repair mark on the bell key guard, a solder repair mark on the key post of the U-tube, and the possibility that the bell tube and the U-tube have been relacquered because the engraving on the body ring is unnatural. The lacquer on the fingerboard is not so worn, and there is no impression that the instrument has been used.

The sound is bright, grainy, and edgy, similar to a modern Selmer. The width of dynamics is wide in the forte direction, and while it has a fat and rich sound typical of Selmer saxophones, it does not yet feel blown in, and the impression is that it has not yet been completely exhausted. It gives us a sense of the fun and future potential of growing and developing the sound from now on. The sound is more resistant than that of the Jubilee, but if the player breathes into the instrument, it has a solid, fat sound with a strong bottom. The instrument itself has a somewhat rugged impression, but it is not bad for delicate expression, and it has a very firm and dense sound. Even when played with a sub-tone, the sound has a clear and sharp profile.

In the big category of vintage saxophones, Mark 6 is still overwhelmingly popular, but there are many players who are fascinated by the sound of Mark 7.
Although the number of excellent vintage Selmer saxophones is decreasing, Frasell 7 is still one of the most affordable and practical vintage saxophones that is worth trying.
