James L. D'Aquisto is a guitar builder of unparalleled skill and creativity, and his name has been passed down through the generations along with his works. D'Aquisto began his apprenticeship with master craftsman John Di Angelico in 1952, and took over the workshop in 1965, after Di Angelico's death. He took over the workshop in 1965 after Di Angelico's death, and created many unique guitars by adding his own ideas to the ones he inherited from Di Angelico.

This one has a 16-inch laminated maple body with a body thickness of 2.5 inches. The size is the same as the 175, but the body thickness is thinner than the 175, which makes it fit more comfortably. Overall, there is no noticeable damage, and the condition is commensurate with its age. The sound is more acoustic and has more range than the 175. The tone is very close to that of the 175 when the tone is turned down. The D'Aquisto is a direct descendant of the D'Angelico lineage of jazz guitars. The D'Aquisto is made in Japan, and the high quality at a reasonable price makes it a great choice for beginning jazz guitarists and young players.
