2012, Gold Top Custom 24 with PU replaced by 57/08!

PRS's signature model "Custom24", a gold top with a thin hint of figured tone. Maple top & mahogany back, mahogany neck & rosewood fingerboard specifications are the royal road of PRS at that time. The neck shape is "Pattern Thin" which boasts high playability in the high position, just like a 24-fret model. The fretboard is decorated with the outline type bird inlays that were standard at the time, and the PU is usually an open type "59/09" that reproduces the hot vintage tone, but this one is equipped with the famous "57/08". PRS obtained the exclusive right to use the pickup wire manufacturing machine that used to wind the famous PU in the 50's. The sound of this amp is the same as that of vintage amps. The sound of the "08" is very rich and dry on vintage amps, while its edgy tone with tight riff work on modern amps will charm players all over the world. It excels at vintage tones, and its wide range and high followability to delicate playing are its strong points.

There is a small ding on the top of the body and the cutaway on the 6th string side, and a thin toe mark between both PUs. There is a very faint ding on the left side of the tone knob, and there are some dings and scratches on the outer edge of the body, mainly on the lower part of the body. There is a ding on the right neck of the body side that is the size of a grain of rice. The outer back of the body is also dotted with dings and scratches of various sizes, mainly on the lower edge. There are some white spots around the neck joint and at the tip of the backside of the head, but they are not visible from the front, so they are not bothersome. There is a small ding on the tip of the head, and clear peeling and floating from 8F to 15F on the first string side edge of the neck side. The rear PU cover has a few spots of chipping, and the rest of the hardware shows little signs of use.

The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod can be adjusted to tighten or loosen. There are no string marks on the frets and about 80% of the strings are left. Currently, the string height is adjusted at about 2.0mm on the 12F 6th string side and about 1.5mm on the 1st string side.

The overall appearance of the guitar has a PU replacement, a sense of use, and some white spots, but these are not noticeable thanks to the vintage-style coloring of the "Gold Top". The thin neck, 24F specification, double cutaway, and gold top will not let the slide player remain silent! If you look closely, you can see that the finish on the top has changed over time, and despite the gold top, there is a magnificent figured finish! Also, the neck area is of excellent workmanship, with a strong neck and a truss rod that works well, giving you peace of mind in the long run, which is why we can recommend this guitar with confidence!
