A 1990 67ST featuring the signature maple-veneered style has arrived!

The neck is maple with a maple veneer on the fingerboard—the “maple-veneered” configuration made famous by Jimi Hendrix. It features the Transition logo and Kluson-style tuners. The fingerboard radius is 9.5 inches, and the frets are vintage-sized. A vintage Custom Shop decal is affixed to the back of the headstock.
The body is made of alder. The neck pocket bears stamps from Art Esparza and the Custom Shop. Both the neck and body have date stamps; although they are faded and difficult to read, we have determined the guitar to be a 1990 model. The pickups are original, and the DC resistance of all pickups is approximately 5.9k. There is also a date stamp on the back of the pickguard, confirming it is a 1990 model. All pots are from 1990 as well. The selector switch is a 3-way.

The pickguard has dirt, scuffs, and picking marks. The outer perimeter of the body has paint peeling, dents, and scuffs, and the body end has stand burn marks. The back of the body has a circular sticker mark, as well as dirt, scuffs, linear scratches, and dents. Additionally, the back panel is missing. The back of the neck has dents and paint peeling, primarily in the lower positions, and there is deep paint peeling on the 5th to 7th frets on the 6th string side of the neck. The back of the headstock shows weather checking in places, and there is paint peeling around the tuning pegs due to tightening. The area around the headstock has paint peeling and cigarette burn marks. The fingerboard surface has paint peeling in places. Did the previous owner peel it off? The hardware shows signs of wear, such as tarnish and deterioration, and the set screw at the saddle has been replaced.

The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod has plenty of play in both the tightening and loosening directions. There are no noticeable string marks on the frets, and about 60–70% of the original frets remain. The current string height is set to approximately 2.0 mm on the 6th string side at the 12th fret and approximately 1.5 mm on the 1st string side.

Overall, it shows signs of use and is by no means a pristine instrument, but the wear and aging from the previous owner have given it a certain cool, vintage charm. While its authenticity and sound quality may not measure up to current Custom Shop models, it’s a guitar that lets you fully appreciate the atmosphere of the Custom Shop’s early days.
