The first-generation SG-T, introduced as Masayoshi Takano’s signature model, is said to have been produced in a limited run of 200 units from 1988 to 1990. With very few units circulating on the used market, this is an extremely rare model that now commands high prices—likely due to the renewed popularity of Masayoshi Takano.With its beautiful See-Through Navy finish and unique look featuring palm tree motifs and “TAKANAKA” designs, it exudes a special presence that sets it apart from the standard SG series.
The body features a maple top and mahogany back. The neck employs the through-neck construction characteristic of Yamaha SG models, with an ebony fingerboard, an H-S-H pickup configuration, a 5-way selector switch, and the Yamaha Rockin’ Magic-Pro system. While offering the rich sustain typical of the SG-2000/3000 series, the tremolo unit and H-S-H configuration allow for a wider range of sound shaping.
Although the selector switch has been replaced with an OAK unit, the original parts are included. Since the replacement uses highly reliable parts for practical use, this should provide peace of mind when playing the guitar.
There is some waviness visible on the neck, but with the current setup, it does not significantly hinder playability, and the instrument remains in good playing condition for normal use. While there is some tarnish and peeling on the plated parts, as well as linear scratches on the back end of the body and minor scuffs throughout, considering its age, the finish retains a solid sheen and is in beautiful condition.
Furthermore, this guitar comes with a tour case. It has a rugged, battle-tested look that sets it apart from standard hard cases and further enhances the instrument’s presence.
