USED Fender / 1980-81 Stratocaster International Color Cathay Ebony [11]

This piece was manufactured around 1980 and is one of the International Color Series from 1981.
Large head version from the period when the serial number was written on the head. Heavy ash body and one-piece maple neck. The unique Cathay Ebony color, white pickguard, and black screws are attractive.
Although this model was made in 1980, it is inferred from the appearance and parts configuration that it was shipped in the early international color of 1981. There are no replacement marks on the pickguard, and the screws are consistent with the originals, retaining the specifications of the period.
The sound is characterized by the combination of the heavy ash body and one-piece maple neck, which produces a tight low frequency range and a bright, clear high frequency range. It also has high followability to picking nuances, and produces expressive vintage tones from delicate clean tones when played lightly to edgy midrange when distorted firmly.
Pickups are gray bobbin vinyl wire type. The dates are rear:-----080 center:123880 front:191480. 3 initial digits on the rear are unreadable. Each is original with 80 year date. Neck serial is 79.
Jack has been replaced due to failure. The first string side of the body joint appears to have been gap filled.
Paint is dripping on the top of the body.
There are other scratches and dents that are commensurate with the age of the instrument.
The neck is in good playing condition with no noticeable abnormalities, but the truss rod is loose.
