This is a 1988 Gibson USA Les Paul Standard Reissue in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. It is a model from the so-called “Pre-Historic” era, manufactured before the birth of the Historic Collection, and features a striking combination of a beautiful flamed maple top and Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. It possesses a charm unique to 1980s Gibsons, distinct from the modern Historic Series.

The top features a natural and beautiful flame grain, which, combined with the character developed over time, creates a striking appearance. The neck offers a 60s-style grip that doesn’t feel overly thick, ensuring excellent playability.

The front pickup is equipped with The Original HB-R. The rear pickup bears a PAF stamp, so it may have been replaced. The front volume knob has been replaced with a push/pull type, likely for coil-tap functionality.

The date code on the CTS pots indicates 1988, making this a guitar that fully embodies the unique atmosphere and charm of the Pre-Historic era.
Since the truss rod was fully tightened, a professional technician has performed a fingerboard correction and refretting (JESCAR #45100). Additionally, there is a crack mark on the neck near the back of the headstock. It has been reinforced by injecting adhesive.
There are no noticeable issues with the current neck, and it is in perfect playing condition.

The escutcheon has been replaced.
The toggle switch plate is slightly warped. There is paint chipping on the back of the headstock, exposing the wood.
Weather checking is present across the entire body top and headstock top. The headstock top also shows some paint loss. Additionally, there are scratches, dents, and rust stains on the metal parts, showing signs of wear appropriate for its age.
