Vintage British Booster Designed by Gary Hurst

The CBS/ARBITER LTD POWER DRIVER is a 1970s British-made booster/preamp designed by Gary Hurst, known for his work on the early Tone Bender. The unit bears the inscription “A GARY HURST DESIGN.”Equipped with TREBLE, BASS, and BOOST controls, it allows you to powerfully drive your amp while adjusting the frequency balance. It handles a wide range of sounds, from clean boost to drive tones with natural breakup. This unit features three BC549B silicon transistors. It is a rare and valuable piece that embodies the design philosophy of the early days of British boosters, with very few units still in circulation.
Overall, it shows signs of wear appropriate for its age, such as scratches, scuffs, peeling paint, and rust, but it functions perfectly. Some of the knobs have chips. Additionally, three of the four screws securing the back panel have been replaced.

CBS/ARBITER LTD POWER DRIVERは、初期Tone Benderの開発で知られるGary Hurstが設計を手掛けた、1970年代の英国製ブースター/プリアンプです。本体には「A GARY HURST DESIGN」の表記が確認できます。TREBLE、BASS、BOOSTの各コントロールを備え、帯域バランスを調整しながらアンプを力強くプッシュすることが可能。クリーンブーストから自然なブレイクアップを伴うドライブサウンドまで幅広く対応します。本機はBC549Bシリコントランジスタを3基搭載。英国製ブースター黎明期の設計思想を伝える、市場流通数の少ない貴重な1台です。
全体にキズ、擦れ、塗装剥がれ、サビなど年代相応の使用感が見られますが、動作に問題はございません。ノブの一部に欠けが見られます。また、バックパネル固定ビス4本のうち3本が交換されています。
