The electric version of the L-5, released in 1951, is—alongside the Super 400—one of Gibson’s flagship archtop guitar models.
It ranks among the top models in Gibson’s archtop lineup and is known for having been used by numerous masters to create legendary performances; it is considered the quintessential jazz guitar.
With its easy-to-handle 17-inch body, this guitar offers a superb balance of rich, deep bass tones and mellow, resonant highs.
It also offers superb touch sensitivity, allowing for a full range of dynamics despite its substantial weight.
This instrument features a spruce top, maple back and sides, a maple neck, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and two original stacked PAF pickups.
With multiple binding around the body and neck, block inlays on the ebony fingerboard, a torch inlay on the headstock, and maple with an elegant grain pattern, it boasts luxurious specifications befitting a high-end model—an instrument that exudes artistic beauty even at first glance.

There are areas of tarnish, rust, and worn plating on the gold hardware, and there is a dent accompanied by paint cracking on the upper back of the body.
There is paint cracking along the headstock binding, and the clear coat has a dull appearance overall.
There are also some scratches and small dents.
