The Fender Stories Collection pays tribute to legendary musicians, the custom Fender guitars they cherished, and the incredible music and legacy they created.
Campbell purchased a Telecaster equipped with a Bigsby tremolo and a powerful onboard boost function known as the “Destruct” circuit from a former guitar student in Florida; this guitar later became affectionately known as “Red Dog.”
The Stories Collection Mike Campbell “Red Dog” Telecaster features a Heirloom nitrocellulose “Red Dog Red” finish and a one-piece maple neck with a 7.25-inch radius fingerboard and 21 vintage-style frets.
It also incorporates the “Destruct” boost circuit found on the original guitar.
The custom Mike Campbell Red Dog pickup set consists of two vintage-style humbuckers and a Telecaster single-coil bridge pickup. It comes with a Bigsby B5F tremolo, a custom Red Dog neck plate, a vintage-style case, a strap, picks, and a certificate of authenticity.
HEIRLOOM NITROCELLULOSE LACQUER FINISH AND HARDWARE
The Red Dog Red Heirloom lacquer finish recreates the faded candy apple red of Mike’s original guitar, replicating the well-worn look and feel of the original instrument, with check marks and dents scattered across the body. The neck features a pleasantly smooth finish, and the hardware has been given a worn look.
