USED Gibson Custom / Motohiro Hata J-45 Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged Heritage Cherry Sunburst [S/N 22745026]

We’ve just received a used Hata Motohiro J-45—the signature model released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his debut!

Released last year in 2025, the Hata Motohiro Signature Model sold out immediately upon our initial arrival.
Based on the distinctive 1966 J-45 that Hata himself has cherished for many years, this guitar was crafted by the Custom Shop team at the Montana Factory, where Gibson acoustic guitars are produced.

The body features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top and genuine mahogany back and sides.
The mahogany neck features a custom-curved neck profile based on Mr. Hata’s beloved instrument, reflecting the distinctive late 1960s specifications, along with a 1.575-inch (approx. 40mm) nut width.
The rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 20 large Legend frets and features mother-of-pearl dot inlays.
The nut is made of bone, and the tuners are reliable Gotoh strap tuners (cream buttons).
It is equipped with an L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup and preamp.
While maintaining the compressed attack and sound pressure of the Element under-saddle piezo pickup, blending it with the Tru-Mic produces a more resonant, authentic acoustic sound.
The Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish on the Hata Motohiro J-45 has been treated with Murphy Lab’s Ultra Light Aging process, beautifully recreating the feel and atmosphere of the main guitar that Motohiro Hata has cherished for many years.

Due to dents and paint damage on the back of the neck (near the 7th to 8th frets), Gibson Brands Japan performed touch-up painting and clear coat correction.
(* Please note that while some repaired areas do not feature the Murphy Lacquer or Murphy Lab aging finish, genuine paint from the Gibson factory in the U.S. was used.)
Otherwise, there are no signs of wear such as picking marks, and it is in superb condition—what could be called a "beautiful piece."
Of course, the neck condition and remaining fret life are also in excellent shape, making this a guitar we can confidently recommend both as a collector’s item and as a working instrument.

It comes with the original hard case and a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
