1967 Epiphone Caiola Custom Walnut is now in stock!

The Caiola Custom is the signature model of Al Caiola, a studio musician who recorded "Seven in the Wilderness" and "Bonanza," as well as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra, and many other artists.

This model has been on the market since 1963. In 1966, a standard model with two P-90s was introduced, and the model with mini-humbuckers was positioned as a Custom.

This model was one of 102 produced in 1967. The body is made of laminated maple and is 16 inches wide, similar to the Casino. The body is slightly thicker at 1 13/14" and has a full acoustic construction with no f-holes.
The refretted neck is made of mahogany with a loinwood fingerboard wood material, 0 or 20 frets, and a 25 1/2" long scale.

The pickups are two Steker-numbered Mini-Humbuckers with 1Vol/1Tone control and ToneExpress, which has an effect similar to a varitone switch on an ES345 or similar. The output is mono, and various tone characters can be created by Toneexpress and pickup select.

The head is equipped with Grover's Milk bottle tuners with "PAT. PEND U.S.A." engraved on it and inlaid with the motif of a pillar of a temple, etc. A plate with CAIOLA's name on the tailpiece is also attached.

The frets have been replaced and are high enough, and the truss rod has been confirmed to turn 60 degrees both left and right.

「荒野の七人」や「ボナンザ」の大ヒットに加え、エルビス・プレスリーやバディー・ホリー、フランク・シナトラなど数多くのアーティストのレコーディングに参加するスタジオミュージシャンであるアル・カイオラのシグネイチャーモデル、「Caiola Custom」。

1963年より市場に登場した本モデルですが、1966年にP-90を2基搭載したスタンダードが登場し、ミニハムバッカーを搭載したモデルはCustomと位置づけられました。

本機は1967年に102本生産された中の個体で、ボディにはラミネートメイプルを使用し、カジノと同様の16インチ幅を採用。ボディ厚は少し厚い1 13/14インチでFホールのないフルアコースティック構造となっております。
リフレットされたネックはマホガニー、ロースウッド指板のウッドマテリアルで、0フレットや20本のフレット、25 1/2インチのロングスケールが採用されております。

ピックアップにはステカーナンバードのMini-Humbuckerを2基搭載し、1Vol/1Toneのコントロールに加えES345などのバリトーンスイッチに似た効果のTONEEXPRESSを搭載。アウトプットはモノラルでToneexpressやピックアップセレクトで様々なトーンキャラクターを生み出すことが可能となっております。

ヘッドには神殿などの柱をモチーフにしたインレイや「PAT. PEND U.S.A.」刻印の入ったGrover製Milk bottle チューナーを搭載し、テールピースにはCAIOLAの名前の入ったプレートが取り付けられております。

経年を考慮してもきれいな状態を保っており、フレットは交換され十分高さがあり、トラスロッドも左右ともに60度回ることを確認しております。
