This is a wood snare from the LUDWIG & LUDWIG period of the 1930s-40s.
The year cannot be determined, but it is presumed that it was made in 1938, as it is stamped 3812 inside.
From the specifications, this snare seems to be a "standard" model, which would have been the standard model of wood snare at that time.

The shell is thought to be maple because of the mahogany inner and black outer paint, and the center ply is thought to be poplar. It comes with a maple reinforcement.
The hoops are also original double flange hoops with 8 tension and made of brass.
The parts are nickel plated and the lugs are imperial lugs.

The sound is bright, soft, and mild, with no volume, but the shape of the hoop and the tightness and cohesiveness of the snare stand out.

The paint on the shell is a little peeling, but considering the age of the instrument, this is not a problem.

There is some rust on the bolt, and a few of the bolts are slightly bent, but they are original and the parts are slightly dulled.
However, the shell itself has no problems and the sound is excellent. The sound is excellent and very full. This is a very rare snare drum!

1930-40年代のLUDWIG&LUDWIGの時期のウッドスネアです。
年式の特定はできませんが、内部に3812の刻印があり、1938年製ではないかと推定されます。
仕様より「スタンダード」と呼ばれるモデルと思われ、当時のウッドスネアの標準的モデルだったであろうスネア。

シェルはインナーがマホガニー、アウターはブラックの塗装があるためメイプルと思われ、センタープライはポプラではないかと思われます。メイプルレインフォースメント付きです。
フープもオリジナルのダブルフランジフープの8テンションでブラス製です。
パーツはニッケルメッキで、ラグもインペリアルラグです。

ちょうどラディックが2社に分裂していた時期の貴重なスネア、約80年前のスネアですが、現在のラディックスネアにも通じる作り、サウンドも明るくも柔らかくマイルドでボリューム感はありませんが、フープの形状も相まってタイトでまとまりの良さが際立ちます。

全体的に年式相応の経年使用感ございます。
シェルの塗装はややはがれている部分が目立ちますが、年式を考慮すれば致し方ないものと思われます。

ボルトサビ、数本僅かな曲がりはありますがオリジナル、パーツもややくすみ目立ちます。
しかしシェル自体は特に問題もなくサウンドは抜群。非常にふくよかに鳴ります。 かなり希少性の高いスネアドラムです！
