Great jazz fusion guitarist Scott Henderson has had the Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion residing on his pedalboard for the past 20 years. He even calls it "the best distortion pedal ever made. Despite his praise, the SD-9 had several shortcomings that many players, including Scott, have discovered. These were primarily the loss of low end in the upper register and a tone control that was essentially unusable beyond the 9 o'clock setting. So over the years, many boutique pedal builders have made modifications to the SD-9 in the hopes of improving its performance, but until now, they have failed to achieve that goal.

TWA is very pleased to announce its first signature model, the Scott Henderson SH9 Signature Distortion, the first collaborative product with Susumu Tamura, the original creator of the Tube Screamer.

For the TWA SH9, Mr. Tamura has taken the SD-9 circuit developed in 1981 as the basis and redesigned it to meet Scott Henderson's exacting performance standards. Tamura shifted the center frequency of the TWA SH9's tone control to focus on the low-midrange. This ensures that when the tone control is turned up, the lower frequencies, which Scott considers essential for proper guitar sound in the upper register, are not lost due to the thicker, richer sound that is combined with the TWA SH9's inherently well-compressed sound, The TWA SH9's thick, rich sound combined with its inherently well-compressed sound allows Scott's trademark horn-like lead tone to be expressed at a high level.

偉大なジャズ・フュージョンギタリストのスコット・ヘンダーソンは過去20年間に渡り、自身のペダルボードにMaxon SD-9 Sonic Distortionを常駐させてきました。彼はそれを「史上最高のディストーションペダル」とまで呼んでいます。彼の称賛にもかかわらず、SD-9にはスコットを含む多くのプレイヤーが発見したいくつかの欠点がありました。これらの主なものは高音域でのローエンドの損失と9時の設定を超えると基本的に使用できないトーン・コントロールでした。そのため、何年にもわたって、多くのブティックペダルビルダーがSD-9のパフォーマンスを向上させることを期待して改造を行ってきましたが、これまではその目標を達成できていませんでした。

TWA SH9において田村氏は 1981年に開発したSD-9回路を基本として採用し、スコット・ヘンダーソンの厳しい性能基準を満たすように再デザインしました。田村氏はTWA SH9のトーン コントロールの中心周波数をシフトして低中低域に集中させました。これによりトーン・コントロールを上げても高音域においてギターを適切に鳴らすために不可欠とスコットが考える低音域の周波数が失われることはありません。TWA SH9が本質的に持つ、ほど良くコンプレスされたサウンドと組み合わされた厚みのある濃醇なサウンドにより、スコットのトレードマークであるホーンのような流麗なリードトーンを高次元で表現することができます。
